Himalayas are Astounding and we at Astounding Himalayas bring you all the surprise of Indian Western Himalayas. We are here to introduce you to the real Himalayan life, its architecture, the remote villages, natural magnificence and of course its culture. The Himalayan Culture is hidden in its legends mentioned in various Hindu Epics and some villages in the hidden valleys of Indian Western Himalayas are hidden some of them in the temples.

What We are : We are eager to share Himalayas with you. We are a group of Tourism Professionals and have a mission to take as many people as possible to the hills and let them have some of the life time experiences of these wonders. Some of the hidden valleys of Indian Western Himalayas are the best places in this world and those who love Nature, love them. There are various ways to visit these valleys. You may choose to use take our Jeep Safari Trip that takes you through some of the oldest Tibetan Monasteries, dense forests or Cold deserts. Beyond that is something else which is stunning, historic, and eye opener, for which you are, of course, required to be fit to walk. If yes then come with us on a Trek or a Village Walk. We can prepare your tour starting from your arrival in India till your departure. Village Walks, Jeep Safari, Trekking (high or low altitude), Camping Holidays, Cycle Tours, Motor Cycle Tours, Angling and Monastery Visits are our specialties. 

We are Village Tourism Promoters and we make you travel to the natural regions of Great Himalayan National Park and Tirthan Valley that is famous for Trout Fishing.

We want to create  an international network of individuals, institutions and the tourism industry :
  • We like to educate tourists and tourism professionals.
  • We also help the vilalgers with our productes by opening home stays in the remote villages.

Our Team
Sumit Raj VashishtSumit Raj Vashisht :
Sumit is deeply associated with Tourism industry since 1993. A writer, a painter a traveler and a hard core tourism professional, Sumit is one of the most knowledgeable Tour Guides to the Indian Western Himalayas. Sumit’s Heritage Walks in Shimla and Vialge Walks in Banjar Valley have become famous in last 10 years, his knowledge about the hills is just amazing and he likes to share his experiences with his clients. Sumit is madly in love with the hills and in his own words, “Hills travel with blood in my veins and it is impossible for me to live away from them”.

Sumit has  handled a project with Fox History  & NDTV for their program, It Happens Only In India’ Shimla episode. Handled another project with Star News for a story on ‘Shimla Ghosts’.

His walks were mentioned in Mentioned the September issue of India Today’s Travel Plus.

Shimla - A British Himalayan Town : This is the first book, a Coffee Table Pictorial of Shimla authored by Sumit. The book tells you the complete history of the town and the present lifestyle through its various chapters.

Shimla Bazaar : Sumit is a Nature Writer He write Short Stories collected  from  Nature and incidents involving daily life of people, which provides  spice to the reader . A book  on short stories, which I have authored, is on shelves.

Rajinder ChauhanRajender Chauhan : After working as a Scholl teacher for a couple of years, Rajender plan to quit his job and run a NGO. As a director of SAHARA (Society for Scientific Advancement of Hills and Rural Areas) he has proved her best efforts as an environmentalist, a teacher, a social worker and a tourism professional. Rajender has been involved in building environment for literacy mission, Street Theater, In-depth knowledge of Banjar Sub Division, the topography, people, literacy, women child health care and other grass root works. From 1996 to 1998  he worked with the Great Himalayan National Park in Awareness program for the GHNP.

Through SAHARA Rajender has also worked for the welfare of women in the eco-zone of the GHNP, Vermi-composting, organic farming, apricot oil production, handicrafts like Kullu shawls fabrics, hammocks and shawls, medicinal plant cultivation and of course ecotourism. He was the first one to develop Eco- tourism in Great Himalayan National Park.
